International Orange, Unprecedented Exhibition Celebrating the Golden Gate Bridge, Closes October 28, 2012
International Orange, the exhibition of contemporary art at Fort Point celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Golden Gate Bridge, closes October 28.
Named for the unique paint color of the span and presented by the FOR-SITE Foundation, International Orange offers new insights into this enduring landmark, its history, and the
unparalleled surrounding environment and has drawn more than 130,000 visitors and critical praise since opening last May. The unprecedented exhibition at Fort Point features new work by 16 leading contemporary artists responding to the bridge as icon, historic structure, and conceptual inspiration. The contributing artists are: Anandamayi Arnold, Mark Dion and Dana Sherwood, Bill Fontana, Andy Freeberg, Doug Hall, Courtney Lain, David Liittschwager, Abelardo Morell, Cornelia Parker, Kate Pocrass, Jeannene Przyblyski, Allison Smith, Stephanie Syjuco, Camille Utterback, and Pae White.
To celebrate closing day, on the afternoon of Sunday, October 28, FOR-SITE will host a reprise performance by Lady Sea and the Golden Ocean Orchestra, a scavenger hunt with exhibition themed prizes including a limited edition Pendleton blanket designed by artist Allison Smith and items from Stephanie Syjuco’s International Orange Commemorative Store, as well as food carts and refreshments. Exhibition tours will be offered at 12:30 and 3 p.m. on both Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28. For more information: http://www.international-orange.org/exhibition/closing-weekend-events/
