TOPAZ ARTS in partnership with the Queens Museum of Art present Dance in Queens 2010 the eighth annual dance residency program, and are pleased to announce the awardees of Dance in Queens: Solo Flight – a special dance residency and performance series featuring solo work. Presented as an off-site event during the Queens Museum of Art's building expansion, Dance in Queens 2010 takes place in its entirety at the TOPAZ ARTS Space in Woodside, Queens. This year, the residency program focuses on the solo form, offering choreographers concentrated time and a private space to develop new work.
Three choreographers have been selected through a competitive open call — Daniel Charon, Ursula Eagly, and Dina-Verley Sabb-Mills — each receive free rehearsal space at the TOPAZ ARTS studio from July to September 2010 to develop new solo work. Concluding in a shared performance, each choreographer will present solo work developed during the residency in an informal showing at TOPAZ ARTS on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at 6:00pm. There is a suggested donation of $10 for the performance. Seating is limited.
