Call for Entries - Reveal! Inside the Artist's Mind

Art doesn't just happen. It's a process of experimentation, development, intuition, research, doodling, dreaming, creating. And a lot of this process is documented in the artist's sketchbook, where creative ideas are worked out. These small treasures of the artist's mind are often kept stored away, to be leafed through on rare occasions to reminisce or to spark a new idea.
These visual diaries are wonderfully revealing, telling us about the way an artist thinks and works. We would like you to share a few pages of your sketchbook with us in an exhibition titled 'Reveal! Inside the Artist's Mind' at the Visual Voice Art Gallery in Montreal, Canada.
Artist's submissions should be documentations of experimentation and development of ideas, not practice renderings. Your sketchbook pages should be visually engaging but also tell us a story of how you worked out a particular idea.
This exhibition, while having a strong visual focus, is not limited to the visual arts. We invite all artists (authors, movie makers, designers, illustrators, choreographers, musicians...)  to share pages from their notebooks .

This exhibition is open to all Art+Culture members. There are no submission or participations fees.

Notifications to artists - November 10
Exhibition dates - November 26 - December 19, 2009
Vernissage - Saturday, November 28, 2009

How to submit your work for review

1) Upload the sketchbook page(s) you want to submit to the exhibition to your Art+Culture profile page

2) Email a notice that you would like to participate in the Reveal! exhibition to info@visualvoicegallery.com with "Reveal! submission" in the title, and include the link to your Art+Culture profile page.

3) Sit tight -  submissions to the Reveal! exhibitions will be reviewed from October 26 - November 9, 2009

4) Notifications to artists will be sent out on November 10, 2009

5) If you have been invited to participate in the exhibition, please mail your sketchbook page(s) to

Along with your artwork(s), please provide a separate sheet with the following information:

- name of the artist
- title of the work(s)
- date of creation
- medium and support
- price

If you have additional information, such as an artist's statement and/or a bio, please feel free to include this as well.

Please mark 'Reveal!' on your envelope.To have your artwork to returned to you after the exhibition, please include a self-addressed stamped envelope.


Pricing, sales, and fees

The Visual Voice Art Gallery does not require a submission fee or a participation fee, but takes a 25% commission in the event of a sale. The price of the artwork is determined by the artist. All submitted artworks must be for sale.
