Danspace Project

The mission of Danspace Project is to stimulate, promote, and present challenging new work in dance from a broad range of artistic voices within a distinguished and nurturing environment. Danspace Project encourages choreographers to take risks and is committed to assisting artists in realizing their creative visions within a professional setting. Danspace also seeks to provide a receptive public to engage in and be transformed by the work of artists. Danspace Project strives to serve the global arena of dance, dance artists, and our local community, responding to creativity and innovation from a range of aesthetics. Through commissioning, residencies, and performances, Danspace aspires to increase the respect for the work of choreographers and dancers, illuminating their ability to communicate and educate about deep and complex truths of the human condition. We believe that dance artists are uniquely able to transmit non-verbal, universal emotions and we believe that audiences can be prepared and engaged to read the language of dance. Danspace Project fully presents twenty-five to thirty weeks of contemporary dance (including local, national, and international artists) each season (September through June), providing artists with technical, promotional, and front-of-house support.
