Kala Art Institute and Gallery is pleased to announce Kala-fornia: State of the Art  will open to the public on April 20th with a Preview Party from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Admission to the Preview is free.

Kala-fornia:State of the Art, is a ten-day exhibition of works by a select group of contemporary California artists, culminating in a Gala Auction, Saturday evening, April 30th. The auction benefits Kala Art Institute and Gallery, a non-profit arts organization that provides studio residencies, gallery exhibitions and a variety of public educational programs.

 

Works in a variety of media by over 120 California artists will be on view leading up to the Gala Auction on April 30th. The exhibition   Kala-fornia: State of the Art features works by acclaimed artists including Squeak Carnwath, Enrique Chagoya, Binh Danh, David Maisel, Nathan Oliveira, Deborah Orapallo and James Weeks. A number of emerging and established artists round out the exhibition and auction with works available in a wide range of prices. In addition to original artworks, art-related items such as a tour of the Oliver Ranch art collection, will be included through both live and silent auctions.

 

The Gala Auction will also honor special Guest Artists Hung Liu and Jim Melchert for their contributions to the Bay Area art world and beyond. Kala-fornia Honorary Co-chairs Senator Loni Hancock and Mayor Tom Bates will be on hand to join in the Gala Auction that will offer fine wine and exquisite foods.
