The Kitchen is a non-profit, interdisciplinary organization the provides exhibition and performance opportunities to innovative artists in media, literacy and performing arts.  The Kitchen supports and presents noteworthy emerging and under-recognized artists, as well as provides space for more established artists to take new creative risks.

History: Founded as an artist collective in 1971, The Kitchen was initially a space where video artists and experimental composers and performers could share their ideas.  It was one of the first institutions in America to support the then emergent fields of video and performance art, while continuing to present new work in the fields of dance, music, literature and film. This allowed for cross-disciplinary explorations that helped launch the careers of many avant-garde artists.
