World Nomads Lebanon: Bassam Saba Ensemble
The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) kicks off its World Nomads Lebanon series with a special opening celebration featuring the acclaimed Bassam Saba Ensemble. The eight-piece ensemble will take the stage at Florence Gould Hall for one night only on May 1, 2010.
The Bassam Saba Ensemble is led by the Lebanese-born Bassam Saba, a preeminent figure in Arabic music and world-renowned virtuoso of the nay, who has helped develop the group's unique sound—a mix of classical/folk Arabic music combined with classical western influences.
Don't miss out on this evening of soulful and passionate musical performance!
World Nomads is a month-long, multi-disciplinary series held each May at FIAF, celebrating transculturalism in the twenty-first century and exploring the crossroads of culture and identity. FIAF presents World Nomads Lebanon in 2010 in partnership with PEN World Voices Festival of International Literature, ArteEast, Alwan for the Arts, Architizer, and Kleio Projects.
