Kala Fellowship Talks: Chris Fraser and Noah Wilson

Wednesday, May 8, 7-9pm

Kala Gallery/Kala Art Institute

2990 San Pablo Ave. Berkeley, CA 94702

Kala Art Institute is excited to present artist talks by Bay Area artists and 2012-2013 Kala Fellows Chris Fraser and Noah Wilson. Kala’s Fellowship Program includes an annual series of public programs presented by current Fellows during their studio residencies. The talk is free of charge and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

Chris Fraser

Chris Fraser uses the camera obscura as a point of departure in his work and from there creates experiences of light that engage the unseen in everyday phenomena. Chris received his MFA from Mills College. He is a recipient of the Jay Defeo Prize and the Graduate Fellowship at the Headlands Center for the Arts. Chris participated in Bay Area Now 6 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and will be featured in the summer of 2013 in Personal Structures, at the Palazzo Bembo, as part of the 55th Venice Biennale.

Noah Wilson
Noah Wilson's work tests the limits of what can be seen in places, through photographic representation and the capability of images to serve as both windows and impediments to seeing. Noah has been an artist-in-residence at Kala Art Institute as well as San Francisco's innovative Recology program; His work is in the collections of the Achenbach Foundation, the Whitney Museum Library and SF Camerawork. He currently lives and works in Oakland, California.
