Print + Intervene: An Incomplete Survey of Print Actions in Contemporary Art
Wednesday, September 12, 7pm
at Kala Gallery

Independent curator and writer Christian L. Frock presents a broad survey of the strategic use of print media as a form of intervention by contemporary artists in the public realm, inclusive of a wide range of techniques from traditional printmaking to digital output.

Invisible Venue ( , founded and directed by Frock since 2005, collaborates with artists to present art in unexpected settings. It is a small, free-floating, non-bureaucratic, contextually open-ended forum that encourages artists to make art that takes place in and engages with the world at large. Projects include temporary, site-specific work in the built environment and online. Recent works include Here and Now, a series of artist interventions in historic architecture organized by Mills Art Museum, and a print intervention in Public Art Dialogue, published by Routledge.

Frock is a regular contributor to art ltd., Art Practical,, and KQED Visual Art, and teaches graduate seminars in the art and writing program at California Institute of Integral Studies. Her work is archived at and
