Guy Overfelt Overview

Guy Overfelt's art historical roots can be traced back to artists such as Marcel Duchamp, in the Fluxus movement and the happening. However, a relationship can be drawn between Overfelt's work and the radical statements of Minimal art of the 1960s. He is on a quest to discover the very marrow or core of the creative act. Overfelt is determined to explore and push boundaries in his exploration into the meaning of artistry.

Despite fundamental visual differences in his works, there is an underlying common denominator; his mapping out of the conditions by which art can be made and the abrogation of any precepts governing the production of art. The Burnout Project encapsulates all of these ideas into one package. The monitor within the construction rapidly projects a multitude of images from multiple projects that set upon the viewer a visual inundation of color and form.
