Mark Peter Wright is a sound artist whose work encompasses installation, performance, music and film. He holds a postgraduate degree in sound arts, and has studied with Peter Cusack, David Toop and others. Choosing to specialise in field recording and phonography allows his work to address themes surrounding the ontology of human perception; this is encouraged by his continuous investigation into sounds’ ability to engage in a phenomenological dialogue between the object and the listener.

Wright has also produced sound works for Futuresonic, IMT Gallery, Future Cinema, Queen Elizabeth Hall and has contributed to Positive Soundscapes. Positive Soundscapes was  a unique research project which set  out to give a rich and rigorous account of the nature of human perception in its relation and response to different soundscapes. 

His work has been released on labels in Europe and North America, and has been played on BBC Radio 3, Resonance FM and Art Radio FM. He has also presented workshops and lectures about his own practice and areas of research.

Wright is also founder and editor of Ear Room, an online publication for developing critical discourse and debate on the creative, and explorative use of sound in artistic practice.
