[more]Roger Mills is a composer, sound designer, trumpet player and writer based in both Sydney and the UK. He is also the editor and curator of the online experimental music/sound art magazine and net label Furthernoise.org. He has composed music for film, commercials, and dance as well as constructed sound design for theatre and art installations and his work includes soundtracks for Blast Theory and BAFTA award-winning dance theatre performance At Swim Two Boys by Earthfall, Wales.
He has co-written and produced acclaimed albums with Statik Sound System, Spaceways and Vince (Cup of Tea Records), Limbo (Astral Recordings) and has released an album with his band Eludea (Kordula Records). Of note, he is the founding member of the international artists collective Here Nor There.
His sound has travelled in performances and exhibitions in Sydney (Don’t Look Gallery), and Newcastle (Loop Space Gallery) as well as in Germany, the US and Greece.
About Roger’s band Limbo: they believe that the experimental musicians of the '70's- Can, Miles Davis and others- opened up a territory that is still largely unexplored: a zone of uncertainty where freedom of expression is everything.
From Moles, a Bath venue (website):
"Like all outstanding groups Limbo's tone is instantly recognizable, but still individual... At times they improvise like The Art Ensemble of Chicago, they groove like Miles and they drift into experimental rock, but at all times the sound they make is the essence of jazz."
