Sylvie Guillem entered the Paris Opera Ballet School in 1976 and by the age of 19 was named "Etoile" by Rudolph Nureyev.  She has also danced with the Royal Ballet of London and the American Ballet Theater.

Sylvie is not just a ballet dancer, she has entered the modern dance scene in such works as Bejart's "Le Sacre du printemps" and Wigman's "La Danse de la Sorciere." More recently she has worked with Akram Khan for "Sacred Monsters."  

Sylvie has also conceived the dance film "Evidentia," among others, and is married to the photographer Gilles Tapie.
