Damien was born in Dublin, Ireland in December 1973 and grew up in Celbridge, Co Kildare, Ireland.  There are four main band members who play with Damien: Lisa Hannigan (vocals), Vyvienne Long (cello), Tom Osander (drums, percussion) and Shane Fitzsimons (bass). Recently Joel Shearer (guitar) and Cora Venus Lunny (Violin/Viola) have also joined the band on stage for some shows.  All the main band members are from Ireland with the exception of Tom who is from New York. Lisa is from Co. Meath, Vyvienne is from Co. Dublin and Shane is also from Co. Dublin.
