Sloane's 2008 book "I Was Told There'd Be Cake," is a hilarious collection of essays on her post-graduate life in New York City.
Aside from being a fantastically witty writer, Sloane is also very nice person.

Crosley's collection of essays, I Was Told There’d Be Cake, was published by Riverhead Books on April 1, 2008 and became a New York Times bestseller. Since then, HBO has purchased the rights to her book. In 2009, I Was Told There'd Be Cake was nominated for The Thurber Prize. Her second book of essays will be released in Spring 2010.
Her essays, interviews and criticism have appeared in The New York Times, BlackBook magazine (where she was a contributing editor), The New York Observer, The Village Voice, Elle , Glamour, Teen Vogue, GQ, Playboy Magazine, Maxim Magazine, Plenty Magazine, Page Six Magazine, Mirabella, and numerous other literary journals and websites.
