Bill Kaulitz Overview

Bill Kaulitz is the androgynous lead singer of the German glam rock band Tokio Hotel. His bandmates include his guitar-playing identical twin brother Tom Kaulitz (who hardly bares any resemblance), bassist Georg Listing, and drummer Gustav Schafer. Bill’s gender-bending look and strong, silky vocals have helped earn the group considerable attention and many awards including: Bambi Awards, Comet Awards, Golden Penguins, MTV Awards, TMF Awards, and World Music Awards. In 2008, Bill was named one of MTV News’ Men of the Year and was voted most attractive singer by the readers of ¡Hola! Magazine – beating Latin heartthrob David Bustamante by approximately 4,000 votes. Bill also has the distinction of being the youngest person to be replicated at the Madame Tussauds wax museum in Berlin. The multi-platinum-selling band started with encouragement from Bill and Tom’s stepfather Gordon Trumper, guitarist of the German rock band Fatun. Tokio Hotel was first known as “Devilish” and was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffman after an appearance on Star Search in 2003. The group has since released a total of six albums including four #1 singles, two #1 albums, and seven top 5 singles.
