Finley is a rant-artist, excelling at speech as a performance and embodiment of art. Body and body politic mix with sharp political observation and humor, commenting on everything from gentrification to suicide and especially sex and sexuality. At some points in her different performances she plays with substances and her body as a canvas, smearing herself with chocolate, honey or raw eggs and glitter, she (re)dresses her body not as an object but as a vessel. The performance is a response to pleasure, pain, injustice, love, anger, and other emotions, both her own and often “her” city’s: New York. [show less]
