My work deals directly with my perceptions and the subsequent exploration of the tension between shape and space to find new visual relationships. Space is defined as the infinite extension in which all matter exists. Plane is a flat level surface. For me this work addresses a larger issue: that it is part of human nature to make sense of things we do not initially, understand. We latch on to what we know, and then make rationalizations from there. I deconstruct typographical shapes of a particular font, and reconstruct them using concepts inherent to design. Each typographical form is chosen purely for their aesthetics. I want the audience to share my perceptions and exploration of the tension between shape and space to find new visual relationships, but to also come to there own conclusions about my work.
