Multimedia artist Chin Chih Yang was born in Taiwan and resides in New York City, where he received his BFA from Parsons and his MS from Pratt Institute. He is a recipient of a New York State Council on the Art fellowship (NYSCA), an Opportunity Grant from the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA), a New York City Department of Cultural Affairs/Lower Manhattan Cultural Council grant, a public art project commission by the Queens Council/the NYC Department of Transportation Urban Art Program, an Urban Artist Initiative fellowship, a NYFA fiscal sponsorship award, and a gold medal from the Creativity Annual Awards for Creative Achievement in Photography. Yang works in sculpture, photography, painting, performance art, and multimedia installation. In the first half of 2009 his work was featured in the Queens International 4 exhibition at the Queens Museum of Art, and at the Chelsea Museum, the Godwin-Ternbach Museum, the Queens Art Express Festival, the Dumbo Art Under the Bridge Festival, and Exit Art NYC. “The Control of Fear” It was one of twelve projects selected by ACM Multimedia International Conference - Interactive Art Program 2005 in Singapore He frequently enacts projects in outdoor spaces, including the UN (where he infamously projected a giant Taiwanese flag onto the building, 2006–2008), Union Square Park (Burning ICE project an interactive installation, 2009), and Rockefeller Center (2006–2007).
