Michael Cavayero was born in New York City and raised in Merrick and Syosset, NY, two Long Island suburbs. Mr. Cavayero received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University in 2009, and studied at the Cooper Union School of Art and Harvard's Graduate School of Design GSD in Cambridge, MA. Mr. Cavayero recently exhibited two solo shows of large-scale paintings at the Broadway Windows in Manhattan. The first highly formal abstract paintings of Women's hair, and the second strange and uncanny portraits of actress Lindsay Lohan, juxtaposed with large paintings of pansy flowers. Mr. Cavayero has studied in The Czech Republic, China and Japan. He has studied under renowned artists Maureen Gallace, Ross Bleckner and the poet Michael March. Mr. Cavayero will attend a research program in Woodblock printmaking and paper-making at Kyoto Seika Daigaku, in Kyoto later this year as part of a residency program. Currently Mr. Cavayero lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, and plans to pursue graduate work at a later time to receive an MFA degree.
