David Parsons is the artistic director of Parsons Dance, for which he has created over 70 works. Before founding Parsons Dance, he was a lead dancer in The Paul Taylor Dance company. One of Parsons' signature pieces, Caught, employs the use of strobe lighting to create the illusion that the dancer is flying. Other works, such as Envelope, are smart, playful and humorous. Parsons is a recipient of the 2000 Dance Magazine Award, as well as the 2001 American Choreography Award, for his work as a co-producer of AEROS, a production featuring the Romanian Gymnastic Federation that was featured on Bravo. Parsons has also received commissions from the American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, to name a few. [show less]
