Antonin Dvořák was a Czech composer, known primarily for his symphonies. His style combined Romanticism with folk influences, mainly from his homeland, but also from the Americas. He lived in the United States briefly from 1892-1895, directing the National Conservatory of New York and composing his most popular work, the New World Symphony (Symphony No. 9). Dvořák wrote in a variety of forms, including symphonic poems (such as the Slavonic Dances), chamber music, and opera. [show less]
