Danish filmmaker Lars von Trier is known for emotionally charged, sexually explicit dramas that enigmatically attack social constructs. Religion and irrational faith have been central to a number of his best known works, notably Dogville, Breaking the Waves, and Dancer in the Dark. Von Trier graduated from the Danish Film School in 1983, having already made the award winning short 'Image of Liberation (Befrielsesbilleder)' (also known as 'Image of a Relief'). His has since worked internationally as a writer, director, and producer. His most recent film, Antichrist, premiered at this year's Cannes (2009). [show less]
