Meg Stuart is an American Choreographer and Dancer. She is one of the key figures in the European and International contemporary dance world. She is based in Europe and leads her own company, Damaged Goods, which was established in Brussels in 1994. Since 1997, Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods was artist-in-residence at Kaaitheater in Brussels. Meg Stuart is interested in collaboration with visual artists, and thus has worked with artists such as Lawrence Malstaf and Ann Hamilton (Appetite, 1998). She choreographed Remote (1997) for Mikhail Barishnikov's White Oak Dance Project. Meg has also made choreography for actors, and teaches workshops in composition and improvisation at organizations such as Movement Research (NYC), PARTS (Brussels) and ImPulsTanz (Vienna). Meg Stuart received her BFA from NYU and was a member of the Randy Warshaw Dance Company (and also assistant to the choreographer). In 2008, she won a Bessie Award for her body of work. [show less]
