Josh Gosfield lived on farms in Vermont and Massachusetts. Later he became a carpenter and renovated homes and then moved to California where he published cartoons in local papers. He became the managing editor of the Daily Californian in Berkeley and then moved to New York, working at various places as an art director, including a ten-year stint as the Art Director of New York Magazine. He fled the office world to become an artist, having several one-man shows in New York and LA, creating an illustration, photo and set-building career along the way.
