Filmmaker and writer who helped to coined terms like "Tropical Gothic" and "Pornomiseria (Poverty Porn)" in Latin American cinema. He was part of the Grupo de Cali, a group of young bohemians who share their liking for film, rock n' roll and salsa music. A man without limits, Mayolo's work was innovative and provocative from his firsts documentaries to his late television series. He directed 3 films, including the adaptation of Alvaro Mutis' novel "La Mansión de la Araucaima" and "Agarrando Pueblo (The Vampires of poverty,)" along with Luis Ospina, a critique to the filmmakers that shoot Latin America's poverty and then profit from it in Europe and United States.
