Paul Outerbridge was a twentieth-century American photographer who mastered the tricolor carbro-transfer printing process. Outerbridge made significant contributions to the history of the medium in the areas of still life, the nude, color, and staged photography. He was a pioneer in the application of a Modernist aesthetic to advertising. Throughout the 1920s his work was featured in Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, the French Vogue. Through Man Ray, Outerbridge became acquainted with other important artists of the European avant-garde, such as Constantin Brancusi, Tristan Tzara, and Marcel Duchamp. (source: The J.
