Justin Bond, the New York performance artist best known as the sultry chanteuse Kiki, of Kiki and Herb, muses over Joan Didion, falling in love with a slightly retarded man, palling around with Princess Di, and the differences between Genet and JonBenet, all to the tune of some very familiar songs. Equipped with a cocktail of both covers and original songs, Justin insists that music is the soundtrack to our sometimes-fabricated lives. The technology of his covers and characters, however, is premised on the very essence of language itself: unstable, indeterminate, and yet perpetually communicable. Or, incredibly entertaining.
