Jilly Traganou is an architect, author and Assistant Professor in Design Studies at Parsons The New School for Design. Her work examines space and architecture in intersection with the fields of cultural, media and design studies, currently focusing on design’s role in the configuration of national and postnational identities. She is the author of The Tôkaidô Road: Traveling and Representation in Edo and Meiji Japan (RoutledgeCurzon, 2004), and co-editor with Miodrag Mitrasinovic of Travel, Space, Architecture (Ashgate, 2009). Her collaborative project ‘Spatial Imaginary and Multiple Belonging: The “Open House” Workshop’ (with E. Tzirtzilaki and L. Matthews) was part of the architectural research event series Unbuilt (Byzantine Museum of Athens, June 2008) and involved a workshop with migrant women in Athens. [show less]
