Los Nocheros was formed in Salta, Argentina in 1986. After singing in the Polyphonic Choir of Salta, Mario and Ruben decided to form duet. Shortly after that, Kike and Jorge joined them. With this lineup, they participated in hundreds of folk music festivals and concerts until they won the prestigious Cosquin Festival in 1994. Both the critics and the public nationwide loved them. They arrived in Buenos Aires in 1997 and performed at the Teatro Coliseo. As the folk group that attracted the biggest crowds, in 1999 they gave 11 consecutive concerts at the Luna Park Stadium. They performed at the Velez Sarsfield Stadium on April 22nd, 2000 to a full house, which was unheard of as football stadiums are generally strongholds of rock concerts and mega events. Later that year, the album “Los Nocheros” was released in Latin America and the group went on an extensive tour around different countries, like Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Chile and México. Throughout their career, Los Nocheros have won many awards, including el Francisco Canaro (S.A.D.A.I.C,) Olimpia (Salta,) Pampa (Córdoba,) Premio Gardel as Best Folk Group (1997,) Best Album of the Year (1999) and Best Folk Group (2001.)
