[more]Artist duo Zoe Walker and Neil Bromwich are motivated by the potential of the artwork to act as a catalyst for social and political change. with a playful but powerful aesthetic, they explore environmental, economic and political issues to provide aesthetic, imaginative and metaphorical solutions to the pressing concerns of our age.
By inviting audience participation, the artists examine their relationship to the environment in which they live and reflect on the larger global situation. Whilst urging the viewer to imagine an otherworldly place, free from pain and difficulties, and where hopes can be fulfilled, teh artists temper their tongue-in-cheek attitude with a genuine sincerity and concern for major global issues.
Walker and Bromwich's work crosses the boundary between the gallery space and the public sphere, usnig installation, sculpture, performance, photographay and drawing to create situations where questions can be asked and the potential for change initiated. They work in response to specific places and communities, crossing geographical and social boundaries, aiming to enact change, both on a local and international scale.
