Mirror reading is an old skill. Leonardo Da Vinci and Lewis Carroll were among the famous names known to write in reverse.
Mirror Read Books began as a project over 20 years ago. These unique stories were designed to be read in bathroom mirrors with nieces and nephews to make reading into a game.
Today, with neuro- imaging studies, we find that mirror reading practice excites regions of the brain not associated with regular reading. And it leads to gray-matter growth in the right hemisphere in key areas involved in mental transformation, problem-solving, and creative thinking.
After self-publishing four children’s books and getting great grass-roots feedback, www.mirrorread.com was developed as a site to discuss the latest in fun and games and science in Mirror Reading. Then, we decided to build some games to get adults in on the challenge.
Now Mirror Read is soon to release two unique brain-training apps on iTunes for readers of all ages:
