Description: Alessandra Sanguinetti: Along with fellow Magnum photographer Alec Soth, Sanguinetti rides the fine line between documentary and fine art photography. Her series The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams is a collection of surreal portraits of two cousins in rural Argentina. The rich colored photos are bewilderingly mysterious and beautiful. The follow up series, The life that came, focuses on the same two women, now older, one with a child of her own. I personally gasped when I first saw The wedding bed, 2007 and realized that that was the very same Belinda of The Adventures. Sanguinetti is the 2009 recipient of the National Geographic magazine grant to do work on a project which will look at the food production process, farm to table.
