Artists who reinvent or reinterpret historical situations. Featuring: Photographer An-My Lê who explains her ideas behind Small Wars and 29 Palms, evocative bodies of work which delve into Americans' complex relationship with war, on view through May 04, 2008. Sculptor Janine Antoni discusses her use of non-traditional materials and the process of creating Lick and Lather (1993-94), featured on SFMOMA's second floor. New York-based performance artist Daniel Isengart muses on the artistic and cultural revival of cabaret in Berlin, New York City, and San Francisco, and he performs a translated piece from 1930s-era Weimar Germany, recorded at the Weimar New York cabaret gala held at SFMOMA.
