biomorphic / theme
"Shaped like life" -- a made thing that imitates the form and evolution of the organic. Invariably curvy, but more subtle, shaped like musculature or viscera: sinuous, and often drenched with ectoplasmic ooze. Inspirations for the biomorphic may be drawn from any part of the plant and animal kingdoms, but mammalian and insectoid forms are the all-time chart toppers.
Themes represent basic categories of thought, emotion, or value. While our assignment of themes may at times seem arbitrary or whimsical, they serve to link together artists and movements along non- hierarchial pathways. Follow the themes to look for new disciplines that share qualities with those you already like, or to open up new worlds of Art and Culture.
