moody / theme
Mood is a complex concept: it is the texture of experience, palpable yet invisible. Mood is all encompassing; it is the resulting state of an interaction of things and bodies. Moody, then, seems like an odd adjective: after all, doesn't everything have a mood? But moody suggests an inclination for shifts in mood, changes in disposition. Moody speaks to a discontinuity of moods.
Themes represent basic categories of thought, emotion, or value. While our assignment of themes may at times seem arbitrary or whimsical, they serve to link together artists and movements along non- hierarchial pathways. Follow the themes to look for new disciplines that share qualities with those you already like, or to open up new worlds of Art and Culture.
