distorted / theme
The torqued form, the regular stretched to its limit and beyond. Distorted implies the unexpected, forceful action exerted on the undistorted. Elasticity and fragmentation belong to distortion, as do compression and elongation. The distorted is that which has been turned, inverted, everted, warped, altered.
Themes represent basic categories of thought, emotion, or value. While our assignment of themes may at times seem arbitrary or whimsical, they serve to link together artists and movements along non- hierarchial pathways.
