repetitive / theme
Repetition is the concept of forging difference within the heart of the same; repetitive is a quality of a work. To be repetitive is to enjoy the same gesture over and over again, to commit to a style or a lick or a riff or a stroke or a beat. It is to find one moment so thorough, so pleasurable, so appropriate that it is beckoned with each breath, with each emerging moment.
Themes represent basic categories of thought, emotion, or value. While our assignment of themes may at times seem arbitrary or whimsical, they serve to link together artists and movements along non- hierarchial pathways. Follow the themes to look for new disciplines that share qualities with those you already like, or to open up new worlds of Art and Culture.
