Great Art Journals
by Chris Vroom
The Grey Room, published by MIT Press, covers contemporary art, film, media and politics to forge a really interesting cross-disciplinary discourse. I met co-founder Felicity Scott at an Olafur Elliason event and was so impressed that I bought her book "Architecture or Techno-Utopia: Politics after Modernism" and subscribed to the journal. It's well worth it.
October was founded by Rosalind Krauss and Annette Michelson in 1976 after the two became disillushioned with the direction of Art Forum magazine. The journal is rigorously scholarly and the themes covered are well conceived, the articles well written.
I'd also add "Critical Inquiry" published by MIT Press to this list.
