Francis Ford Coppola has sculpted another operatic family drama--the maestro's latest project, Tetro, opens at LA's Landmark and NYC's Sunshine Cinema today. Coppola shot Tetro in black and white and he cast tousled arthouse actor Vincent Gallo in the leading role. If the mood of the trailers and clips I've seen does the film justice, then Coppola has captured the intrigue of noir classics and mixed it with an eccentricity worthy of both Fellini and Wes Anderson.
J. Hoberman of the Village Voice gave Tetro a thoughtful write up, which you can read here. Says Hoberman, "Tetro is neither a project nor a package; it exudes enthusiasm and love of cinema."
