The Comics Reporter
Tom Spurgeon was Managing Editor, then Executive Editor of The Comics Journal from 1994-1999.  He is one of the most knowledgeable sources around and provides some of the best coverage of the comics world.

Likewise with Dirk Deppey; this one is the official blog of The Comics Journal.

The Beat
This one is by Heidi MacDonald of Publishers Weekly, so there’s lots of news from inside the industry.

Drawn & Quarterly, I’m proud to say, is based here in Montreal, and is one of the giants in graphic novel publishing.  They are home to Julie Doucet, Seth, Chester Brown, Gabrielle Bell, Adrian Tomine, and so many others!

Fantagraphics is the other giant publisher of graphic novels, with Chris Ware, Charles Burns, Los Bros Hernandez, Robert Crumb, Joe Sacco, Charles Schulz…
You can find their blog Flog! on their website:

Sequential focuses on “Canadian comix news & culture” and also has a great list of related links.

When Fangirls Attack! “is a compilation of articles on gender in comics and comics fandom… WFA only compiles, it does not judge."

Friends of Lulu “is a national organization whose main purpose is to promote and encourage female readership and participation in the comic book industry.” Their blogroll of Women Doing Comics is excellent.

Drawn! is a blog for “illustrators, artists, cartoonists, and anyone who likes to draw.”  That means there’s a broader range of work, some of it fantastic!

Comics212 is by Chris Butcher, manager of the world-famous comic-book store The Beguiling in Toronto, and co-founder of the Toronto Comic Arts Festival.  His blog has not only links but a great index of online comics.
