Hello there friends, I realized it's been a bit since I posted so I thought I would drop you a quick line and let you know how things are on the front lines. Things have been really taking off for me this year as I already have four shows lined up for the coming year one of them being my first solo show at the Visual Voice Gallery here in Montreal. Which is pretty compelling and exciting as up till this point I have been flying pretty much under the radar, strange as it may seem I have a few real hardcore collectors that knew my work and ethic from having watched me develop over the past couple of decades and they are how I have supported myself as an artist. I avoided the gallery scene like the plague, mostly due to FEAR(that's a Senshido Acronym standing for False Evidence Appearing Real, which will always be written in acronym form as to remember what the word truly means) of rejection and partly because I wanted to prove I could do it on my own. Here is some Breaking News Kids, sure you can do it on your own, it is much harder though and nowhere near as fun(use sex as an analogy). So last September thanks to an association with Jason Botkin (Montreal's hardest working artist) I was invited to a group show I said yes, then I said yes to another, then by the time it came to apply for the Art+Culture show "Reveal" I was ready and looked forward to applying. After watching the public view my work at the A+C show I realized I was missing one thing in my practice and that was reaching a large audience and seeing how they reacted. I loved watching people lose themselves looking at my work. So by that time I was sold, I queried about the possibility of a solo show and was told that Yes there was a possibility of a solo show. So after some further negotiations it was agreed that my first solo show will be held in the fall of 2010 and housed at the Visual Voice Gallery. Which I think is pretty groovy. Another thing that came out of all this is I have now been hired part time at the Visual Voice Gallery. You see as Bettina and I worked together on things I took a greater interest in her gallery and if the opportunity came to help out I agreed to it thinking it would be in the best interest of my show. The more I agreed the more stuff got done, the more stuff that got done the more possibilities there seemed to be which then opened the door to a symbiotic relationship between Bettina and I. I realized that Bettina was A) a winner with a super strong attitude and B) that she was interested in seeing me succeed. Not only was she interested in seeing me succeed, she was also interested in seeing anyone who showed in her gallery succeed. And those are qualities I look for in people I am looking to associate with. So if I am not in my studio(I just moved all the furniture out of my bedroom) working on the shows I have coming up this year, or I am not found here writing you a little morsel for your mind, then I can probably be found at the Visual Voice helping Bettina. Not sure if I'm there cause I don't have a cell, well just stop on by and see then.
