I found Benedetta Bonichi's photography through Keith De Lellis Gallery in New York where she exhibited with Joel-Peter Witkin in 2006. I really enjoy her xray studies, which utilized modern innovations in x-ray technology and digital printing, to create mural-size works. As I've mentioned in the past, I think there are few artists who are actually pushing their technical abilities, as well as, having a strong aesthetic value. Quite often, and partially thanks to photography's origin, an artist is strong in one skill set and not as much the other. This is such a prevalent issue that I find most photography lack luster. Bonichi on the other hand has a unique and thoughtful approach to an under developed and specific type of image making. Take a look at some more of her work here.
