In December of 2009 my business coach found me, I was working part time as a waiter and as always making art, looking for working for and waiting for my big break. I was serving a regular his eggs and coffee, which he often left unfinished as he attended to his meetings and the such. He asked me what I was about and after a little cohesion I agreed to a cup of coffee and a chat. Twenty four hours after that I had business cards then shortly after that I had a website and a nifty difty online place he suggested to sell reproductions of my images on t-shirts, prints and various other things. He has also introduced me to a whole bunch of other entrepreneurs and some of their networking tools. The great thing about this new group of friends is they are creative and driven, they have also really helped me think outside the box in regard to my artistic endeavors. As artists we often get stuck on the concept of what creativity is, this new net work has blown the doors off any preconceived notions of what creative thought is. As an example often when I thought of what networking was I thought only of galleries and other artists, well getting involved with groups such as e2connect has not only helped changed my thinking it has also allowed me to present my creative work and mind to a new audience. The momentum that this has helped me build has been truly amazing and effected not only my business it also has extended into my art as well. Here is one of the creative exercises from a networking event I attended recently, we were asked to effectively describe our business or product in under thirty seconds, heres what I came up with.
