One of the largest art & technology festivals in Europe, Netherlands-based STRP loves film, music, and technology in equal measure and creates dynamic, memorable programs for its attendees. Named after Strijp-S, the industrial area in which Philips came up with inventions such as the audio cassette, the CD, and the video 2000 system, this past April’s nine-day event was host to Aphex Twin, offered a retrospective of the works of Austrian video and audio duo Kurt Hentschlaeger and Ulf Langheinrich, and featured Cyborg Arena, an event in which creative technologists demonstrated “how the use of body extensions offers extraordinary and revolutionary possibilities.” The STRP Foundation holds showcases and other activities throughout the year in addition to the festival.
