Abstractions have remained a relatively marginal genre in the field of photography. However, some of the most exciting work is being done in this genre.  Unlike its counterparts in other mediums, abstract photography has a strong connection with reality.

Essentially, it is almost a requirement that this medium bridges the gap between reality and abstraction.
