I haven't been blogging lately as I got a job teaching fashion history at a local college here in Montreal.  It's really great because I have gotten to revisit different eras in history and rediscover the clothing.  I'm totally into the eighteenth century these days! The gowns were just so marvellous and pretty; I don't think the Rococo period has ever been surpassed in its decadence and elegance


The Kyoto Costume Institute in Japan has one of the best collections of eighteenth century fashions in the world.  You can see examples of their holdings both on their website (www.kci.or.jp) or pick up Taschen's beautiful book Fashion: The Collections of the Kyoto Costume Institute.  Here are some favorite photos from the book....
