Fall Preview: Don't Miss in San Francisco
The fall exhibition season begins in earnest this week and there are a number of great shows not to be missed. We profile two below that we're checking out and welcome you to email shows you think we should feature.
Anthony Meier Fine Arts. Opening September 15th will be Barnaby Furnas at Anthony Meier Fine Arts. Tony Meier has one of the best programs in the Bay area, including Gary Simmons, Tony Feher, Teresita Fernandez, Dave Muller, Jeremy Dickinson, John Chamberlain, Sarah Cain and others. Fraenkel Gallery. Hiroshi Sugimoto at Fraenkel Gallery. Over the past thirty years, Jeffrey Fraenkel has put photography on the map through over 300 museum-quality exhibitions featuring the likes of Diana Arbus, Edward Weston, Eugene Atget, Katy Grannan, the Bechars and others. Sugimoto’s “Lighting Fields” series is a group of photographs created using a 400,000 volt generator. The resulting images are beautiful. 49 Geary Street. (415) 981-2661.
