In July I asked Tara Betts, a writer friend with Chicago roots, to send me a photo and bio for me to put up of her about her book release. She did, but I'm finally in September having a chance to get it up here. She sent me a lovely photo of herself taken by Rachel Eliza Griffiths and the jpg for the cover of her book ARC AND HUE.  ARC AND HUE is available for pre-order at  The pre-orders will be $12 (20% off the $15 cover price) before Sept. 1, 2009, which is when this collection is due out in stores. Here's a brief bio:

Tara Betts is the author of Arc and Hue.  Tara is a Cave Canem fellow, a graduate of the New England College MFA Program.  Her work appears in numerous anthologies and journals such as Ninth Letter, Callaloo, Hanging Loose, Gathering Ground, and Bomb Magazine's  blog.  She currently teaches at Rutgers University and leads community-based workshops with teens and other groups.

Hey All, just wanted to add a personal message since I'm excited to announce the release of my first full-length poetry collection ARC & HUE. I've scheduled parties in NYC and Chicago, my two homes, but I'm happy to say that I'll be fanning out over the U.S. in the coming months, so wherever you are, mark your calendars. You can find me in Detroit, Philly, Baltimore, D.C., and Massachusetts with more dates to come. Since my website has been updated courtesy of web guru Jose Vilson with fabulous photos from Rachel Eliza Griffiths, I'll be blogging on a regular basis again. Enjoy your day & hope to see you soon.
take care, Tara
