For those interested in the downtown New York art scene, this publisher tends to focus on those artists I like the best these days. O.H.W.O.W. releases some awesome art books and many of these books incorporate text into the mix. Primarily image, however---with a great essay folded in on occasion.
Though this new O.H.W.O.W.edition is a poster pack, I can recommend it because I just finished writing texts for the JRP Ringier exhibition catalog by the same name. It accompanies an exhibition opening soon at MACRO in Rome: New York Minute. This poster pack includes a lot of killer work but I'd like to mention one artist, Aurel Schmidt, whose catalog, Maneater, is also impressive. Maneater chronicles her 2008 show at Deitch.
Aurel's first book, Burn Outs, was actually released by TV Books.
Artist, Tim Barber, is behind TV, and I think they were actually invited to curate a book series through Aperture recently, so their books are distributed by D.A.P. now. Yay!
